GO Transit Code Line Elimination
- Removed 10 miles of communications cable
- Built two new 6x6 bungalows
- Installed two signals
PNR RailWorks Signals & Communications Division replaced 10 miles of overhead and underground communications cable with track codes and a Safetran radio transmission system for GO Transit.
GO Transit is redesigning the track layout in its busy Weston and Newmarket subdivisions to eliminate all road crossings, replacing them with overpass and underground-track routes. During a pre-construction phase, PNR RailWorks crews cleared 10 miles of cable. To facilitate temporary communications during construction, the crews installed Safetran spread spectrum radio equipment with antennae and HD linkers. They also built two new 6x6 bungalows and installed two new signals.
Once road and track construction is complete in 2012 or 2013, the S&C division will undertake a second project to upgrade the signal system and relocate the bungalows and signals.
