Edmonton South LRT Extension
- Installed signal system
- Installed grade crossing warning devices
- Installed relay rooms
The Edmonton Transit System added a $675 million, 7.8-km light rail transit (LRT) extension to the southern portion of the metro area. PNR RailWorks performed both track construction and signal work on the project.
Through a subcontract with GE Transportation, PNR RailWorks installed the signal systems on the line, wayside signals, power switch machines, grade crossing signals, signal cables and duct work, relay racks and relay rooms. Crews supported GE in testing and commissioning the signal system.
PNR RailWorks also performed the track construction.
The extension doubled Edmonton’s LRT weekday ridership to 100,000.
