CN Signal Upgrade
- Supported CN in upgrading the signal system
- Installed new switch heaters and propane tanks
- Installed new intermediate signals and electronic coded track
- Crews worked in remote locations with limited access
PNR RailWorks supported CN in upgrading the signal system and installing switch heaters on key sidings on CN's line in Northern Ontario.
PNR RailWorks installed new intermediate signals and electronic coded track for CN to eliminate 200 miles of pole line. Crews also installed new switch heaters and propane tanks in 18 sidings.
PNR RailWorks performed work over the five-month summer season. The line’s remote location in Northern Ontario presented logistical challenges. Because there was no road access, all materials were transported to the project site by hi-rail hoist cars. At times employees traveled two hours to get to railway access points and then traveled another hour on the rail to get to the job site.
