Description
The Edmonton Transit System is adding a $675 million, 7.8 km. LRT extension to the southern portion of the metro area. PNR RailWorks is performing both track construction and signal work on the project, which is scheduled for completion in phases by 2010.
Scope
Through a subcontract with GE Transportation, PNR RailWorks is installing the signal systems on the line. wayside signals, power switch machines, grade crossing signals, signal cables and duct work, relay racks and relay rooms and supporting GE in testing and commissioning the signal system.
PNR RailWorks also is performing the track construction.
Unique features
When the LRT extension is completed, it will double Edmonton’s LRT weekday ridership to 100,000.
